One helluva a game. I guess The Mascot was right. :-)
The wife and I are actually more excited about Super Tuesday than we were about the Super Bowl. Now, if the Packers had gone through....
Hell of a game, though.
On the plus side, this is probably Mercury Morris' best day in a while.
I'm still crying. I mean WTF was up with Brady? He was not on his game. I think the ankle was more of a problem than he let on.
I was very disappointed by this. The best team certainly did NOT win. If Brady was actually playing football, New England would have once again been victorious. Sigh. Oh well.
C'mon, Brady is not to blame for the loss--like any quarterback, even the best (and he's one of them) he looked like God when he had all day to throw (most games this season) and looked ordinary when he had constant pressure on him.
The best team, on THIS day, won. If they played best of seven then NE would win most of the series, but that's not football.
I was rooting for the Giants, but when they began their last drive I was thinking it was a great game, win or lose, and that drive made it one of the best ever.
Wahr: It sounds like you were in the same room as my friends and I. One of the women said "regardless of what happens this has been a great game."
Blunder: Maybe the ankle was a factor, maybe not. He looked pretty mobile to me. The Giant's D was in his face all night. I guess Plaxico was a little off in his prediction. He said 23-17 Giants. Good thing he was off by 3 points on the Pat's score.
Nemo: Maybe the Patriots were the best team during the year, but it comes down to one game. Giants played better. Kinda reminds me of chess. Sometimes the lower rated player wins. :-)
Polly - this is very true. Giants did play much better. Brady cracked under extreme pressure to all the blitzes and rushes. I was just so upset that he kept throwing the ball away. He gave up way too early in the game.
The team that played the best that day won so it was an appropriate outcome. Two fellow in our office here in Waltham (outside of Boston) wore their Giant jerseys the next day .... it was a tough day here in New England.

I'm about back to normal after the devastation last weekend. Five stages of grief:
1. Denial (this is all a dream I'll wake up and it will be Super Bowl Sunday).
2. Anger (why they hell didn't they use Welker more, why did he go for it on 4th and 13?, why didn't the ref call that offensive pass interference call?).
3. Bargaining (I'd give up a toe if I could go back in time and give Belichick a video of the game).
4. Depression (this was the big one...18-0....18-0...we'll never have this chance again, life is meaningless).
5. Acceptace (Hey, the season starts again in 7 months and they gave their fans a wonderful season.)
How is Memphis still a consensus #1, not one AP voter thinks that maybe a power conference team has demonstrated more this year than Memphis? If Duke had beaten Pitt in the OT game, they would be a consensus #1 at this point. Does this make sense to anyone? One OT loss is the difference between a unanimous #1 choice?
Ok, sorry for hijacking your chess blog, but it does have a sports theme lately, I didn't start the hoops talk!
